英語からポルトガル語の慣用表現を学ぼう！　　⑬

[alcatéia]
・estar又はficar de alcatéia =lurk, be on the look-out,e watchful, be one’s gurd 待ち伏せしている。
[alcatra]
・bater a alcatra na terra ingrata =give up the ghost 死ぬ
●既出ように多数の表現がある。
[alegação]
・sob a alegação de =on the grounds that, on the plea of, under the pre-
tence of 〜という口実[の下]で。
●口実に使う→alegar como〜.〜にかこつけて、〜を口実に→a protexto de 〜=-com o protexto de 〜. 口実を作る、儲ける→inventar um protexto, usar como protexto
[alegria]
・chorar de alegria =weep for joy 嬉し泣きする。
●類似の表現として、例えばgritar de alegria→歓声を上げる、pular de alegria →欣喜雀躍する、嬉しさのあまり飛び跳ねる。また、独立不定詞的な表現では、para minha grande alegria(to one’s great joy )→とても嬉しいことには、がある。
・lamberse de alegria =be overcome with joy 喜びにあふれている、ひたる。
●lamberseという動詞にはもともと喜ぶ、好むの意味がある。
Ex. O colegial lambiase de contente porque ganhou a bolsa de estudo.
その高校生は、奨学金を得たので満足して喜んでいた。

[alegria]
・transbordar de alegria =be overjoyed, be mad with joy 喜びでいっぱいになる。
Ex. Meu sobrinho transbordava de alegria. 僕の甥は喜びで溢れていた。
[além]
・abalar-se 又はir para o além (向こうに去る、行く) =kick the bucket
死ぬ =dar o último alento。
・além de tudo 　=above all とりわけ、何よりもまず。
・além disso 　=in addition, in to the bargain, further more
その上、そのほかに、それに加えて。
●=além do mais
Ex. Um dos meus amigo é, além de desperdiçador, muito malcriado
僕の友人の一人は浪費家のうえに、無作法である。
[algazarra]
・fazer uma algazarra =kick up a hullabaloo 大騒ぎする。
[algum]
・algum tanto 　=somewhat 少々、いくらか、多少
[alhada]
・estar metido em uma alhada 　=be in a bad fix, be in the briers
苦境にある、進退窮まっている。
●=estar em maus lençóis (悪い敷布のなかにいる)
・meterse numa alhada 　 =hit a snag, entangle one-self 窮地に陥る。
[alho]
・confundir 又はmisturar alhos com bugalhos (ニンニクと没食[もっしょく]子を混同する) 　=make ducks and drakes of everything, mistake one thing for another
ある物を別の物と誤解する。
Ex. Você está completamente confundindo alhos com bugalhos, pois esses
assuntos são bem diferentes.
その話題はかなり違うので、お前さんは味噌もクソも一緒くたにしている。

[alma]
・a alma do negócio é o segredo　　=O segredo é a alma donegócio =the secret is the key to the business　　秘密が商売の生命
・alma do outro mundo 　=ghost, spook 亡霊、幽霊
・[uma] alma penada 　=wandering soul さまよえる魂
・botar又はdeitar, pôr a alma pela boca =lose one’s breath, get out of breath
息を切らす、あえぐ、喘いでいる
・cairlhe a alma aos pés =lose heart, have one’s heart sink, have one’ heart
one’s boots 落胆する、気が滅入る。
・caiume a alma aos pés 　 =my heart sank into my boots 私は気が滅入った、心配でたまらなかった。
・criar alma nova =take heart, sum up pluck,take a new lease of life
元気を回復する。
・dar又はentregar, render a alma a Deus又はaos Criador 死ぬ。=render a alma
・de alto bordo　　=high-class, distinguished; top-notch, first-rate 最高級の、第一級の。
Ex.O reitor mandou uns estudantes estudarem o tema.
総長は二三の学生にそのテーマを勉強するように命じた。
・falar alto e bom som 　=to speak up, speak lou-dly and clearly
はっきりと大きな声で
Ex. Fale alto e bom som para todos os colegas ouvirem.
全ての学友に聞こえるために大きな声ではっきり話しなさい。
・estar atolado até a alma =be completely stuk, be stuck root and branch
完全に行き詰まっている、動けなくなつている。
・estar botando a alma pela boca =feel exhausted, be worn out, be pulling and blowing　　疲労困憊している、へとへとに疲れている。
・vender a alma ao diabo 　=sell one’s soul to the devil　　魂を悪魔に売る。
・sua alma, sua palma！ 　=It’s your funeral！
それは君の問題だ！、各人は行いによって賞罰される。
　Ex. Assalta o banco se quiser. Sua alma, sua palma.
望むのであれば、銀行を襲いなよ。人は行いによって賞罰されるのだから。
[alô]
・dar um alô (para) 　=to give a ring to, phone 電話する　=ligar para
[alta]
・da alta 　=high-class, high-society ハイクラスの、上流の。Ex. Só gente da alta frequenta aquela academia. 上流の人だけがあのスポーツジムに通っている。
・dar alta a um doente =discharge a patient 退院させる。
・ter alta =be discharged a patient 退院する。
[alto]
・Alto lá！ 　=Stop！ 止まれ！、やめなさい！！
・de alto a baixo 　=from top to bottom, from head to foot
徹頭徹尾、すっかり、頭のてっぺんから足のつま先まで、上から下まで。
・os altos e baixos da vida =the ups and downs 人生の浮き沈み、盛衰。
●os altos e baixosで病状の変化も意味する。
・passar〜por alto =overlook, pass over, omit 見落とす、見過ごす。

[altura]
・a certa altura　=at a certain point　ある時点で。
●この時点で、現在のところ→a esta altura
・de uma altura vertiginosa　=from a giddy height　目の回るような高所から。
・estar à altura de　=be up to scratch, come　up to scratch, fill the bill,
meet the requirements,　hit the mark, be equal to,　be worthy to
〜に相応しい、匹敵する、〜までの高さがある、　〜に対応する能力がある、ある任務を果たす。
・pôr nas alturas　=praise highly　神のように高く崇める、神格化する、崇拝する、祭り上げる; 理想化する。
●=botar nas alturas
・mostrarse又はportarse à altura da situação (das circunstâncias)　=rise to the occasion　　難問に対処する(手腕を振るう)
・cair das alturas　=despair　失望する、落胆する　幻滅するような予期せぬ不愉快なことに驚かされる。
・nessa altura　=at that point, then　その頃に。
・pelas alturas de〜　　=along about〜　[時間などが]大体〜頃で。
[alvo]
・acertar no alvo　　=hit the target, hit the mark　　的に当てる。
●的を狙う→apontar ao　alvo、的を外す→errar o　alvo.
[âmago]
・atingir o âmago de　　=go to the heart of　　核心に迫る、達する。
●問題の核心に触れる→　ir ao âmago da questão。
問題の核心に入る→　entrar no　âmago da questão。
[amargar]
・ser de amargar　　=to be rough, be “murder”,be intolerable　耐え難い、気難しい、解決し難い。
●=ser de morte
[amarração]
・ser uma amarração　　=to be really something,　be terrific　とてもひどい。
●①とても素晴らしい②とてもひどいの意味を持つser uma coisaと同義。ただし、amarraçãoを使った慣用句には、①の意味はないようだ。
Ex. A namorada do amigo　é uma coisa.　友人の恋人はとても素敵である。
O jogo de hoje foi uma coisa.　今日の試合は全くひどかった。

[amarrar]
・estar amarrdo em　=be in love with, have a　crush on　惚れ込む、恋する。
[amém]
・dizer amém a 又はpara　tudo　=agree to everything
何にでも同意する。そっくり認める。
[amigo]
・amigo das horas felizes　=fair-weather friend
順調な時だけの友、まさかの時に頼りにならない友。
・amigo do[s] copo[s]　=a drinker, a boozer
酒好きの人、居酒屋にしょっちゅう通う人。
●同義もしくは類似の表現はあまたある。一例として、
ser um bom copo, ser um　bom copofone, tocar o　copofone, ter boa
embocadura, conversar com a　garrafa, amarrar a gata。
・amigo íntimo　=bosom friend　親友
●=amigo do peito。
Ex.Eu faço qualquer coisa　por ele— é amigo do peito.
僕は彼のためには何でもするんだ。彼は心の友だから。
・Amigos, amigos, negócios à parte　(諺)「友人は友人、商売は別」
・melhor amigo do homem
・o amigo do lado esquerdo　=the bosam buddy, close　pal
o amigo do peitoと同義。
[amigo-da-onça]
・um amigo-da-onça　偽りの友、不実な友人。
Ex. Aquele amigo-da-onça　fugiu com a minha amante.
あの不実な友は僕の愛人と逃げ去った。
[amigo-do-alheio]　=the thief, sticky-fingered　person　泥棒、盗癖のある人
Ex. Tome cuidado com os　amigos-do-alheio se você　for de metrô.
もし君が地下鉄で行くなら、泥棒には注意しなさいよ。
・amigo-urso　　=a snake in the grass　うわべだけの友。

Vamos aprender as expressões idiomátocas　da língua portuguesa por

[amizade]
・fazer amizade com　　=strike up a friendship　〜と友達になる。
[amor]
・amor à primeira vista　　=love at first sight　一目惚れ。
・amor por interesse　　=cupboard love　欲得ずくの愛情
・cair de amores por　=fall [madly]in love with〜を[夢中]に恋する、好きになる。
・estar louco [morto, perdido] de amor (de amores)　=be dying with love
〜に狂おしいほどに恋をする、〜に恋焦がれる、夢中になる、熱中する、〜を大いに好む、愛好する。
●=morrer de amores por,　andar perdido de amores por, sentir grande admira-
ção又はafeição, simpatia, paixão。嫌いであれば、否定語nãoを付加すればよい。
Ex. Eu morro de amores pelo vinho português.私はポルトガルワインが大好きです。
・pelo amor de Deus　=for heaven’s sake！, for
God’s sake！, for the love　of God！　お願いだから、後生だから。
Ex. Pelo amor de Deus, me deixa em paz.
お願いだから、私をそっとして欲しい。deixar em　pazは、そっとしておくの意味。
・por amor de　=for the sake of, for the　love of 　〜のために、〜によって

[andamento]
・dar andamento a　活動させる、遂行する、実行に移す。
・estar em andamento　=be under way, be in process　進行中である、進行する。
・Tudo depende do andamento das coisas　全て物事の成り行き次第である。
[andar]
・andar又はestar aéreo　=be up in the clouds, be　wool-gathering
ぼんやりしている。
・andar à solta　=be footloose　自由に歩き回る。
・andar cambaleante　=blind stagger　よろよろ歩く、千鳥足である。
・andar 又はir de mal a　pior　=proceed from bad to worse , to go from bad to worse　次第に悪くなる、ますます悪化する。
Ex.　A situação da Ucrânia foi de mal a pior.ウクライナ情勢はますます悪化した。
・andar de quarto 　=go on all fours　四つん這いで歩く。
●=andar com os joelhos,andar de gatas又はgatinhas=gatinhar。
